Citrix Server Virtualization solutions have been well recognized and trusted since before the Cloud revolution began. Microsoft in the early years of remote GUI terminal services recognized Citrix as a leader in the field of Remote Desktop rendering and terminal services with the Citrix ICA protocol and created a direct partnership with Citrix under the product program of Win Frame and Meta Frame which was a combination of Citrix ICA protocol and Windows NT 3.5x. Thru NT 4.0

This hybrid Network Operating System was used throughout enterprise class organizations governmental institutions and health care organizations worldwide. Microsoft later opted for the development of an internal protocol for terminal services which provided similar features under the name of RDP or Remote Desktop Protocol which borrowed heavily from Citrix ICA.
